On this occasion, a first for the artist, the armchair created by Speedy for Ecart International will be presented to you exclusively
Speedy Graphito is an important free figuration artist born in the 1980s with strong personalities like Basquiat, Keith Haring, Combas, Di Rosa… He is one of the pioneers of what is now called “street art”. He is a very inventive artist, constantly renewing himself in different series, who travels the planet, alternating creations in the studio and interventions in cities. Event: for the ECART space he created his first piece of furniture as well as a set of paintings playing on the interior-exterior. Especially not to be missed, before the armchair leaves for Argentat sur Dordogne for the Meetings-Promenades “Histoires de Passages….”.
On the passage of some artists...
In connection with the Rencontres-Promenades “Histoires de passages…” in the country of Argentat sur Dordogne, a collection of furniture has been created at ECART, inviting a wide variety of artists. In continuity, a carte blanche is offered to them at the ECART space in Paris with other creators (painters, photographers, designers, sculptors, etc.). After a terrible bicycle accident at the age of twenty in 1945, Andrée Putman emptied her room to put an iron bed, a chair and a poster of Miro on white walls. Where are the Miro of our time? Under this beautiful name of Gap that she invented in 1978, in this high place of design, it will in any case be a question of having curious eyes. Are thus presented, in a very open way, sensitive visions from here and elsewhere. This is done through a dialogue between the elegant sobriety of the furniture and the force of images following one another like a long story on the walls with artists who are always passionate.
