The 1940 straight-back sofa is a favorite of Jean Michael Frank & Adolphe Chanaux. As interior designers, it was more important for the duo to interpret and arrange spaces than to design mass-produced furniture. This sofa therefore refers to a certain type of upholstery, found in many middle-class homes in the early 1900s, which Frank often loved and reinterpreted. Similar sofas often appear in photographs of several apartments decorated by him, and differ in arm length, back slope or other details.

40 years later, Ecart International is still working in the footsteps of its creator, in particular by using noble materials, promoting French know-how.

Through this collection, Ecart International remains committed to bringing to life a tradition of eclecticism and timeless quality.

An art of simple and functional elegance straight out of the avant-garde spirit of the designer.
