Historical

The 1932 straight-back armchair is one of Jean Michael Frank & Adolphe Chanaux's favorites. As interior designers, it was more important for the duo to interpret and arrange spaces than to design mass-produced furniture. This armchair therefore refers to a certain type of upholstery, found in many bourgeois homes in the early 1900s, which Jean-Michel Frank often loved and reinterpreted. Similar armchairs often appear in photographs of several apartments decorated by him, and differ in armrest length, back slope or other details.
